Emma turns TWO | {Puyallup Children’s Photographer}

It’s amazing how quickly time can pass and these past two years have really flown by! Our youngest granddaughter, Emma, arrived 5 weeks early just over two years ago and after spending her first month in the hospital, she came home to relieved parents who just wanted a normal life with their new baby. And, since then, it has been, well, as normal as life is with a baby who is now a toddler! Emma may be tiny (let us say “petite”), but she makes up for it in every other way!! Naturally, being her “Mimi” (aka…grandma), I’m slightly biased, but besides being pretty darn cute, she’s got quite the sense of humor, she’s very active, likes to explore, climb and run…and is not afraid of anything! It’s not unusual for her to have a bump, scratch or bruise, but they don’t slow her down, she literally picks herself up and moves forward, often without even a whimper to signal something happened…she is a tough and strong little girl! Besides being very active, she’s quite vocal…talking up a storm, telling stories and making sure that we all know what is going on with her and around us…she doesn’t let anything pass by her without her knowing it! I love watching her play…she’s quite precise with her play and often will line up the blocks, dolls, animals, or whatever she’s playing with and it’s obvious she wants them in a certain order. She knows just how she wants things to be! On days I’ve taken her to the park with her big cousin, Jayden, (who she ADORES)…she gets quite upset when Jayden swings…and tells her “NO, no swinging, Jayden, stop!” It’s quite funny to watch…I’m not sure why she says that…and even funnier is when you pass by a park, she says she wants to go there and swing, yet when at a park, she never wants to swing! Sliding, is a while other story, she’s a little daredevil on the slides and loves it…goes back as fast as she can get to the top and charges back down again…and again and again! When around Jayden, she tries to do everything Jayden does…a little “monkey see, monkey do” going on with those two!! So, we celebrate this beautiful and bright little girl who is now two and totally normal and healthy…look back to two years ago and realize that a lot really has happened in that time!

storyboard001storyboard002storyboard003I can’t get enough of her beautiful eyes…they are stunning!storyboard004storyboard005storyboard006storyboard007A very caring an nurturing little soul…she’s quite kind and gentle with her stuffed animals.storyboard008storyboard009storyboard010storyboard011storyboard012Blowing bubbles with her daddy…who she adores!storyboard013storyboard014storyboard015storyboard016storyboard017A gorgeous family, who I love more than I can say…Jess and Sean are incredible parents…and they will be adding to their family with another little girl at the end of July! SO excited!storyboard018storyboard019storyboard020storyboard021storyboard022storyboard023storyboard024Okay, so I spoiled her for the photo shoot…a “big girl” sucker…which she loved and made a bit (and adorable!) mess of her face… storyboard025storyboard026Of course, she had to climb onto Jayden’s lap…and try to steal a lick (or bite!) of her sucker…too funny!!storyboard027storyboard028And what a better time to show your love for your cousin, when you are sticky (everywhere!) and have a big sucker in your hand, this was too darn cute and shows just how loving Emma is!storyboard029storyboard030storyboard031storyboard032storyboard033storyboard034storyboard035Emma, you are beautiful, smart, kind and loved OH so very much…we can’t wait to see what the years ahead have in store for you…I know it will be great things!

GREEN | {2014 Monthly Project}

GREEN…a color, which isn’t a primary color, but a mixture of blue and yellow, it’s complimentary to red. Green is a sign of growth and in the spring, it’s a welcome sight/color after a drab and colorless winter!! It can also be associated with being sick, envious and hope. Jayden and I picked green for our theme for a couple of reasons…because the grass finally starts to grow, bushes and trees start springing forward with green leaves and St. Patrick’s day is all about green…so it seemed like a perfect theme for the month. I had started out with some photos and was looking around for some unique and fun green ideas for this month…of course, that all changed when my husband and I went on vacation…to New Orleans! If you have ever been there, you would know that the city is FULL of color, LOTS of color and plenty of green, in about every shade you can imagine, so I abandoned all the other ideas I had for the theme and decided, that my “green” would all be from New Orleans (which by the was was one of the best vacations we’ve taken!!)…and there is about every shade you can imagine throughout these photos…so enjoy all the GREEN…and I hope you aren’t “green with envy” when you see all the great sights we saw there!! 😉

Jayden’s photos for March and our theme of green!! Green is a color, it’s pretty and sometimes it can be bright and sometimes it can be dark. Green makes up leaves, it’s the color of moss and it’s the color of St. Patrick’s Day when you will get pinched by friends if you don’t wear it!

Derek – PHS 2014 Senior | {Puyallup Senior Photography}

A break in the spring rains and even some sunshine brought a fun session with a great young man, who will be graduating in a couple of months from Puyallup High School! Derek, is not only a handsome young man, but has plans and dreams for his future! I had not met Derek, nor his mom, Mary, before the session, but what a treat it was to spend some time with them on a lovely spring day! As you will see, Derek has a nice smile and he was easy to talk with and had a wonderful sense of humor and was willing to do just about anything for the photos. I would look at a tree and he’d ask if I wanted him to climb it…he was just that kind of guy! It’s refreshing to see such a confident and polite teenager, with ideas of what his future holds for him and I have no doubts that Derek will go places, do great things and make a good life for himself! His immediate future holds the finishing of high school and soccer for his team this spring and next fall, he’s looking at Western or WSU…either would be a great choice and I’m sure he’ll pick the school that will fit his needs and goals for the future!

storyboard001storyboard002storyboard003That smile was great…so natural and relaxed…I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Derek during his session!storyboard004storyboard005storyboard006storyboard007Mom, aka, Mary, is obviously a wonderful person with such a neat son…I was happy to have a chance to talk with her and enjoyed hearing about her family!!storyboard008Derek’s girlfriend, Nichole, joined us for some photos as well…wow, a beautiful and bright young lady…and the two of them are a such a great looking couple!
storyboard009storyboard010storyboard011How could I resist not grabbing a couple of photos of Nichole…such a natural beauty with amazing skin and a smile that sparkles!storyboard012storyboard013storyboard014Derek…I wish the very best for you and your future…good luck with your choice of colleges and have fun during your last couple of months of high school…these are times that you will look back on with great memories down the road!!

Abbie’s Expecting | {Puyallup Maternity Photographer}

What a neat couple I had the pleasure of meeting last month…Abbie and Chris are expecting their first child, a girl at the end of April! They are both excited and anxious to meet the new addition to their family…and after spending some time with them, I know this little girl is in for a treat…she’s going to have some GREAT parents!! Abbie’s session and a Babe’s First Year session were a shower gift and I’m so excited to get to know them better and even more excited to meet their little girl once she arrives! A beautiful and glowing mother to be, who looks fabulous, with a husband who adores her…I loved watching the connection between these two and capturing some special photos to share with their families and daughter once she enters the world!

FRIENDS | {2014 Monthly Projects}

A bit late with last month’s project, but as they say, “better late than never!” The theme was FRIENDS and it seems as though the lines sort of blur between this month’s theme of friends and last month of family! That is because often times, our close friends become family…sometimes I say they are the family we choose to share our lives with! Dear friends are priceless and to be cherished and I can’t imagine not having friends in our lives! They are there through “thick and thin” for the “good and bad” to “laugh and cry” with us and share in the great joys of our lives! As we go through our lives, our friends might change, depending on where we live, our circumstances and just what we need from friends…but those who are tried and true friends…at always there, through it all and never waver! My husband and I have moved around quite a bit, though have been settled for over 18 years now…and we’ve met so many wonderful people during our moves and are thankful for all our our friends…some we have lost touch with, others have remained as close as when we lived by them…and new friends are also a gift that we are excited to see where the friendship will lead. Some of our very best friends in town have become our Puyallup family and it’s wonderful to see our kids are also friends and we look forward to seeing our circle of friends….and family continue to grow as the years go by!

Jayden: Friends are fun to play with! Friends can help you when you need help with something. They can make you laugh and when you cry, they give you hugs and make you feel better. I love my friends and hope that I make many more friends as I grow up!

Lincoln is ONE & a BIG Brother | {Puyallup Children’s Photography}

A highlight of each year are the little ones that I am blessed to be able to photograph during the BABE’S FIRST YEAR plan that I have! It’s a joy to watch parents welcome a child to their lives and see them all grow into a beautiful family! This little guy, Lincoln, is very sweet and a gentle little boy who not only is lucky enough to have some incredibly loving parents, but as he was turning one, a new little one was about to join their family! Violet was welcomed  into this family shortly after Lincoln turned ONE…so we combined the session for Lincoln’s first birthday with Violet’s newborn photos…and this adorable little girl was just 4 days old…and what a doll! Dad and mom, Phillip and Shawna…are relaxed, loving and incredibly thankful parents..loving their beautiful children more than you can imagine and thankful for their good health!! I’ve said this before, but I love meeting new people, capturing some special photos and memories for them and most of all, making new friends through the process…how lucky am I!! Without further ado…here is Lincoln, Violet and their parents!!

storyboard001storyboard002storyboard003storyboard004storyboard005storyboard006storyboard007storyboard008storyboard009storyboard010storyboard012storyboard013storyboard014storyboard015storyboard016storyboard017storyboard018storyboard019storyboard020storyboard021storyboard022storyboard023storyboard024

My heart is warmed by seeing this family grow and what a joy to see how sweet and loving Lincoln is with Violet…I am sure they will be wonderful friends and I have no doubt that Violet will hold her own with her big brother as time goes on! I can’t wait to watch them over this next year and see these little ones as they begin to see just how amazing it is to have a sibling…that loves you unconditionally! Phillip and Shawna, you have such beautiful children – they are so lucky to have you two for parents! Thank you for trusting me with capturing such special memories in your lives!!
