Jonathan | {Kentlake 2012 Senior}

Just a week ago I drove to Covington and had the opportunity to meet and photograph Jonathan and let me tell you, I was quite impressed with this young man. First off, his dynamic smile just grabs you, but in talking with him, you quickly learn just how nice and relaxed he is. Besides Jonathan, his mom, Jenny, joined us during the session and it was really enjoyable to talk with the two of them. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day, maybe a bit more sun than one would want, but it sure beat the rain that had been “hitting and missing” during that week. We had lots of trees to work with around their yard and it was nice to have such a lovely afternoon to spend outside! Jonathan is an avid mountain biker…actually more than avid, he competes around the country and is considered semi professional and is often spending his weekends traveling to compete in different locations…he was off to Kellogg, Idaho just two days after our session. When I asked Jonathan about his future, he said he’d love to be a real “professional” in the mountain biking and actually make some money at it….and was willing to sleep in his car and eat poptarts if that is what he took, to follow his dreams! Wow, I love hearing things like that…he truly has a passion and I hope he’s able to follow his dreams!

Talk about a great smile…I would imagine that he’s caught the eye of at least a few (if not many) young women….undefined

You can see the passion Jonathan has for his sport….he’s very dedicated and devoted and obviously quite good…it would be great to see him race sometime, I’m sure he’s even more impressive when flying down the mountain on his bike!undefinedundefined

Jonathan is trying to decide where he’ll be next year at this time and at this point he’s looking at Western Washington State University and Washington State University (Go COUGS!) – I am sure that wherever he ends up, he will be successful as he’s a determined young man with great goals to succeed!

Best of luck in your senior year and with your mountain biking…I know you will do well at whatever paths you choose in life!

Patrick | {Kentlake 2012 Senior}

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick and his parents, Jim and Kim, for Patrick’s senior session. We started out with some clouds, but quickly discovered that it was much warmer than we though and the sun decided to join us for the session. What a nice young man Patrick is…and such a great sport about all of the photos. Typically, the guys aren’t as excited or eager about the senior photos and although Patrick might have preferred it to be a quick session, he was cooperative and willing to do whatever we asked of him. I enjoyed getting to know a little bit about him and one thing it was obvious he is quite passionate about is working on cars…he wants to be a mechanic and is hoping to attend Wyo Tech school in Sacramento. He’s eager to explore a new community as well as learn all he can about something he loves doing. As we left our first location, he saw a truck that was not in great condition and said something about he’d love to get his hands on it…his mom just shook her head and I asked if the truck was a “challenge” and something he loved…she said absolutely!!  Patrick is not only working hard in school this year, but he’s also working part time at Arby’s. I asked him if he liked any menu items BEFORE he started working and if he still liked the particular items….he said that after working around the food all the time, he’s not as fond of those items…I can certainly see how that would be the case no matter what foods you worked around often. I admire him and any high school students who manage to balance school and work, with goals for the future in sight to keep them going.

Patrick has a great smile and was so relaxed, that he made my job easy!

undefined

undefinedundefinedIt was evident that Kim and Jim are quite proud of Patrick…he’s the youngest (the baby!) and next year they will have to adjust to an “empty nest” at home, which they seemed to think they could manage!

undefinedundefined

It was quite funny, whenever I asked Patrick to be serious and not smile, I think he broke out in an even bigger smile…it was so funny, but after a while, he managed to do this…although I really did love the big smile he ended up with when we started out!

undefinedundefined

Another passion of Patrick’s is snowboarding, so we figured we could grab a few photos with the board, although the weather wasn’t anything close to what he needs to start out the season. If he’d had his way, we would have been at the mountain and he would have shown me how well he did this, but it just wasn’t possible this time of year. I told him that he should give me a call this winter and I’d be happy to come up and watch him on the slopes…so maybe you’ll see a bit more of Patrick during the winter on the blog!

undefined

Football has been part of Patrick’s fall activities for the past 5 years, but some back problems kept him from playing this fall, although I think he’s probably busy enjoy with work, school and working on cars…when he gets a chance!

undefined

undefinedAnd here is that great smile again, despite the fact that he was probably melting in his jacket for these photos…as I said, he was a great sport during the session. It was a pleasure to meet you, Patrick and I wish you the best for your senior year and your future! Thank you, Jim and Kim, for entrusting me to capture your son’s senior photos!

Brittany | {Kentlake HS Senior…Stunning!}

undefinedHow blessed am I to have have had another senior session last weekend, with another beautiful young woman! Being that it was Mother’s Day, it just seemed fitting that I had the opportunity to meet and get to know Brittany and her mom, Amy, as well as Erin and her mom, Theresa. Brittany and Erin are GREAT friends and both play softball together at Kentlake High School and have been very successful with their careers in softball, which began when they were both very young. This was sort of a double session this afternoon, and I was fortunate enough to have my good friend and fellow photographer, Chelle, working with me as she photographed Erin and we both got some shots of the two of them together. Let me tell you, these girls were a kick, and it sure didn’t take much to get them laughing, really, sometimes just the suggestion had them laughing as you will see in some of the photos! Friends since early elementary school, it’s obvious they are quite close and both are bright and sweet girls with great plans for their futures! Brittany has a scholarship at Chapman University in Orange, CA…and when I asked why she chose there…her answer was simple…why not! Well, really, there was more to it than that, the scholarship (softball, of course!) was a huge part, but the weather was another big draw and who can blame her, especially after this past winter/spring! Her team has played several tournaments in that area, so she’s familiar with the area and is very excited about her future…in business, possibly international business! I can tell you one thing, this girl will do well…and go wherever she wants…she is determined and confident!

undefinedBrittany and Erin…best of friends, talented softball players and beautiful young women…who know how to enjoy life!undefinedAs we started out this session, Brittany warned me that her eyes are sensitive to the light…I can relate as mine are as well…so we tried to find some locations that wouldn’t bother her eyes…above, you can see just how stunning her eyes are….wow, she is beautiful!

undefinedundefined

Such a poised and polite gal…it was really fun to talk with her during the session and get to know a little bit about her…on this Mother’s Day, I could see her mom was quite proud of what her daughter has become…and she has every right to be!undefined

undefined

These two just cracked me up…serious one minute (well, maybe a moment!) and then laughing and making crazy faces the next…

undefined

Next fall, Brittany’s parents will become empty nesters…something that most parents both look forward to and dread…it’s not always easy, but I’m sure that Brittany will stay in close touch once she starts college! And, how could I not capture a shot of the four beautiful women as the session ended…a tribute to the mother’s who have raised great daughters!

undefined

I must say, this is one of my favorites…Brittany could be a model…she was fun and easy to work with and was so very sweet! Best of luck to you and your future!
