It hardly seems possible that my class with Brooke Snow is coming to an end…this week, a bonus week, to either make up a missed lesson or add one or just relax and enjoy everyone else’s work (which is AWESOME, by the way!). My initial plans were to use photos from a maternity session scheduled for yesterday…with my daughter and her husband, due at the end of April. Things changed and last Thursday, this “expecting couple” became parents, 5 weeks earlier than anticipated and although a shock and a bit of a scare, they are doing great and adjusting to this sudden change and learning much more than they ever anticipated. Emma, weighing in at 5 lbs 5 ozs. was little, but not bad for her age…she was in the hospital she delivered at for a little over 24 hours before a decision was made to move her to a new hospital…with a higher level of care for preemies. She’s doing fabulous and making great strides every day…and hopes are that in a week or so, she just might be coming home…a word…HOME…that sounds wonderful to her parents and the rest of the family. So, what to do for this assignment…after a crazy few days, I had decided to just soak in everyone else’s work and not submit anything. Another change of plans…I am watching my other granddaughter today, Jayden, and decided we’d “play” a bit with my new camera and see what we came up with. She’s been photographed since the moment she arrived in this world…and is one of my favorite subjects, so it seemed fitting that she be my subject for this posting. We had fun, all inside since it’s only about 40 degrees and raining outside…it didn’t stop us from getting some cute shots and Jayden was very into it, changing and telling me what SHE was going to to…my little “super” model! So, here’s my little one…though not my littlest one anymore…can’t wait for the newborn photos, since maternity photos only happened in the waiting room, literally, as they were checking in!!
I’d like to say how much I’ve enjoyed the class, it’s a great format, wonderful instructor and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the other student’s work and hearing all the critiques and encouragement…such an encouraging class and I’ve learned tons that I’m already applying to my shooting…and editing! I’ll miss the class, but hope to see everyone’s work in the future…on blogs and/or Facebook!
This photo is the VERY first book that Jayden has read to me…it was SO very sweet and you can see how excited she was to be reading to me…definitely one of those memories you remember for a lifetime!
