Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
When planning for your session, clothing should be an important part of this as it will set the tone for the session. You should choose neutral tones and you don’t have to (and shouldn’t) have everyone wear the same color…choose complimentary colors and tones for your group, and make sure it is something you are comfortable in (not quite as comfortable as sweats or your pajamas!), so that you don’t feel awkward in the photos. DON’T match each other, just blend together! It’s best to stay away from logos and character clothing (although for children’s portraits, this is fine for an outfit or two) as it tends to distract from the subjects and dates the photos. For all ages, clothing should be simple. Solid colors or simple designs are better…you don’t want anything too bold or overpowering. Feel free to add silly hats, favorite blankets and pretty hair bows for a personal touch. Newborns and smaller babies photograph best in the buff. A simple diaper cover or less will result in the best portrait of your new baby, but please bring a special outfit, blanket or other item that you want in the photos. There is no limit on outfits, so feel free to choose many and I’d be more than happy to help you decide what is best on the day of the session.
What if we need to reschedule?
Not a problem, please just let me know as soon as possible so that I can schedule others in your time, if necessary. We can set up another time and don’t worry about your deposit, it will carry over to the rescheduled time. Kids’ get sick, emergencies happen and sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate, so don’t worry, I’m happy to work with you to figure out another time that will work for you and your family.
How can we pay for the session and our order?
You can always write a check or you can pay through PayPal with a major credit card. Please let me know how you’d prefer to pay and if you are paying with PayPal, I will send you an invoice for payment. The retainer is due at the time of booking and holds your time, the balance is due the day of the session.
Can others see my photos?
Yes and no…yes, others can view your photos, if you share the link and password with them, but if not, no one other than you and myself will see the photos. I do have a featured gallery that I’ll occasionally choose a few photos from a recent session for everyone to see, but if that were the case, I would contact you before to get permission. Some of your photos could be posted in my portfolio for anyone to view, but that is all that the public would see.
